This fuel pump cam is located on the front of the camshaft, behind the timing cover, on TB42 carburettor engines. It provides the eccentric lobe that the mechanical fuel pump arm runs on to pump fuel. If your engine is suffering from fuel starvation issues, particularly under load, and you've already checked the pump, a worn cam lobe is a common and often overlooked cause. A worn cam will not operate the pump arm with its full stroke, leading to low fuel flow and poor engine performance.
